Foiling and Embossing
Hot Foil Blocking (or Foil Stamping to give it’s correct name) is the application of pigment or metallic foil, often gold or silver, to paper. Using a combination of a heated die, foil film and pressure, pigment from the foil adheres to the surface of the paper.
Hot foiling can add a real flair to your printed piece, by drawing out and highlighting important details. Blind embossing uses a similar set of dies to create a raised three-dimensional impression. It’s an effective way to add an elegant look and feel to your printed piece. Foil stamping can be combined with embossing to create an even more striking 3D image.
Typically applications where you commonly find both foil stamping and embossing are on annual reports, pocket folders, product packaging, note cards/thank you cards, business cards, stationery, wedding stationery packages and much more.
If we order from our block-maker before 11am we receive the foiling blocks the following day, so it is typically a two to three day turnaround for this work.
